
Nestled deep within a vast wasteland,
teeming with salt, sand, and monsters,
lies the verdant Arch Caldera, an oasis
that survives thanks to the power of Magic.​
Its protectors are skilled magicians known as Hofthanrs,
each with their own unique abilities.​
You are one of them.​

OVERVIEW
Gather Your Grimoire is a competitive mix of deck-building,
card-playing, and social deduction.
Players are tasked with adding certain Spell Cards to their Grimoire,
based on their face-down Hofthanr Card.
Once they've played all the necessary cards,
the Hofthanr is complete, and their power is earned.
Once a Player completes three Hofthanrs, they win the game,
but subterfuge, the effects of Spell Cards, and the dangerous Cultist
makes this simple task much more complicated.



THE SPELLS
Each Spell has two different effects, known as Conjure and Blast.
A Spell's Conjure effect can be used when inscribed into the Grimoire.
These effects can be incredibly powerful;
Missile allows you to Destroy a Spell in someone else's Grimoire,
while Barrier lets you protect your Grimoire from harm.
Blast, on the other hand, offers more minor or reactive effects,
and is accessed by discarding that Spell. For example,
discarding an Evocation will let you draw a Spell from your Deck,
while Siphon lets you nab a Spell from your Discard.
Meanwhile, Reflect lets you redirect incoming attacks,
while Lockdown can negate a Blasted Spell's effect entirely.
THE HOFTHANRS
There are 13 Hofthanr to be found,
from the Sorcerer and Summoner to the Druid and Astronomer.
Each one has Spells listed at the bottom of the Card,
which correlate to the Spells you'll need to add to your Grimoire.
Once complete, their Mastery ability becomes active;
for some Hofthanr, it is a passive skill, such as
allowing you to draw when a Spell is Destroyed.
For others, it is an action that can be taken,
like allowing you to play an additional Spell on your turn.
While playing the game,
if you can glean the identity of another Player's Hofthanr,
you can wager one of your Spells against it.
If you've correctly identified your opponent,
you'll get to add that Spell to your Grimoire; but, if you're wrong,
everyone will get to see what Spell you were trying to play,
giving them information they could use to guess YOUR Hofthanr.






THE AFFINITIES
Whether you find yourself falling behind, or feel strong enough
to make a power play, your Affinity can help you get ahead.
These unique skills can't be countered, and each one offers
a different power; Energy can annihilate an opponent's Spell
with no recourse, while Jolt will let you draw three extra Spells,
and Chill can freeze your Grimoire so that no one
can affect what's inside it.
Affinities have a limit though; once spent, they can't be used again
until you complete a Hofthanr. However, you can use your Affinity to
complete a Hofthanr, by treating it as the Spell listed on it.
The catch is that this Sacrifices your Affinity, removing it from you
entirely, so be careful not to give it up too easily.

THE CULTIST
Hidden in the treacherous caverns near the Blood Obelisk, a dangerous power festers.
The Cultist is the most difficult of the Hofthanrs to complete.
However, if a Player completes the Cultist, they will win the game immediately,
bringing their dark powers to bare on the helpless Caldera.
